I like to play a game called Dota 2.

Some of you guys might have played it or heard of it, but for those who do not know, I am going to tell you about it.

What is Dota 2

Dota 2 is an online team game where each team has five players.

where you will have to level up and buy items to push towers and destroy the enemy’s Ancient.

As a player, you can choose from the 127 playable heroes.

types of heroes

There are 3 main types of heroes. Carry, Support and Tank.

The subtypes are: Initiator, Disabler/Nuker, Pusher, and Ganker.

Heroes can have both types and subtypes.

Carry: The main fighter. They usually have high damage hits or spells.

Support: The supporters usually have the best spells and combos. They usually heal and buff the team.

Tank: The Tank usually has the highest HP or defence, so they can survive taking all the damage.

Next up are the subtypes.

Initiator: They start the fights. They usually have large area powers.

Disabler/Nuker: They usually have large area high damage, stun, or disable powers.

Pusher: Pushers are heroes who are good at pushing towers. They usually have high-damage or speedy hits, so they can quickly destroy towers and creep lanes.

Ganker: The ganker usually has lots of stuns, pulls or damage and movement, so it can easily kill a surprised player and then escape.

How to play?

Dota 2 can be a complicated game.

At the start of the game, you pick your character. You have a choice to ban any 5 characters before searching for a match. If anyone else’s ban matches yours, that character will be banned. Remember, you cannot play the character that your opponent or your teammate is playing. Remember, in a match, there should be two supports, two cores and one tank.

Players

As a player, you will have a default interface

interface of drow ranger + bought blink dagger

This is the interface of a character called drow ranger. You see the blue thing with the space, that’s an item you can buy from the shop.

Each character has four to five unique powers, but a few have more than that. In the picture of your character, there are your states. At the top is your hit damage, under that is your attack speed, under that is your defence, and under that is your sight, under that is your movement speed.

The Map

Dota 2 MAP

This is the map. The map is divided into two sides: the radience and the dire

The place with the house sign is called the fountain. It is your spawn point. In the fountain, you gain huge health and mana gain; it is a high ground as well. In the fountain, there is the main shop. It is also where the couriers. Couriers are small animals that deliver your items from the fountain.

Next up is your ancient. The goal of the game is to destroy the enemy’s ancient. After that are the barracks; these structures are responsible for speeding up your creep wave spawning rate. There is a total of 6 of them on each side; two at the start of every lane.

Next up is one of the most important structures in the game, the towers! The towers fire projectiles that deal serious damage to the enemy. The tower also gives extra defence and normal and hidden vision to you and your team. There are a total of 11 towers on each side: 3 on each lane and 2 in front of your ancient.

Next is your farms. There are two farms on both sides, one large and one small. There are four types of camps.
The small camps: They have the weakest creeps.
The medium camps: The creeps are stronger but still weak.
The large camps: These camps have very strong creeps, but not the strongest.
And lastly, the Ancient camp: These camps have the strongest creeps. Creeps can also have abilities, and most jungle creeps do.

Now lets talk about the runes. There are a total of 9 runes in the game. Of which seven are power runes. Bounty Runes: These runes spawn in every rune spot at the start of the game and spawn in two specific rune spots every 4 minutes. These are the only runes which can stack.
Water Runes: These runes spawn in the river rune spots in the first 2 minutes and 4 minutes. They give you a small amount of health and mana.
Next up are the power runes. The power runes spawn after two water runes in a fixed cycle, but the first one is random. They spawn every two minutes like the water runes, but instead of twice, they cycle through the entire game. If you don’t pick one up, it will be replaced by the next one in the next 2 minutes.
The cycle is [(Amplify Damage, Arcane, Haste, Illusion, Invisibility, Regeneration, Shield)]
There is a total of seven power runes.
Amplify Damage: This rune increases your damage by almost double. It stays for about 30 seconds.
Arcane: This rune makes it so your spells and items cost less mana or health. It stays for about 30 seconds.
Hast: This rune gives you a lot of movement speed. It stays for 22 seconds, with 3+ seconds per cycle.
Illusion: This rune creates temporary clones of yourself, which are slightly weaker and cannot use abilities. The clones stay for 75 seconds.
Invisibility: It does what it says, it makes you invisible for 45 seconds. The effect goes away after you hit something or get hit.
Regeneration: This rune regenerates your health and mana at very fast speeds, regardless of the amount; it always regenerates by 6%. It stays for 30 seconds.
Shield: This rune gives you extra temporary health based on your max health. It stays for about 30 seconds.

There is one spot on both sides where a wisdom shrine is set. This shrine gives you a high amount of xp if you stand in it for a few seconds. They are the purple symbols on the map that indicate their locations. They recharge every 7 minutes and give more xp each time. If two players from opposing teams stand in it, it will stop, and they will have to battle for it.

The lotus pools are structures which create lotuses. Lotuses are consumable items that give you a bit of health and mana. They are located above the wisdom shrines and have the same mecanic but they can have a total of 6 lotuses at once. It spawns a lotus every 3 minutes, and you will have to collect them one by one.

There are two outposts, one on each side. They are the square symbols you see on the map. Outposts are places where you can telaport. You can also telaport to towers. The outposts can be captured and recaptured if both towers next to them are destroyed.
